Sharon Montgomery
I have been a Partner at Crane & Staples since 2001.
For over 38 years, I have worked in the Family Law area. I have covered all types of work, with particular specialisms in finance and pensions.
I now spend much of my time supporting and encouraging other solicitors in our firm as they progress in their careers.
I am the firm's Compliance Officer for Legal Practice and work on regulatory matters for the firm. I am also responsible for our Lexcel accreditation to ensure we operate to the highest standards for our clients. We have been Lexcel accredited since 2004.
Awards
In 2023, I won the Hertfordshire Law Society Lifetime Achievement Award. I was very pleased to receive this award as it was from my local legal community.
I have been a Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer since 2020 and a Chambers & Partners Ranked Individual since 2024.
Memberships and Positions Held
I am a member of Resolution, the Family Law organisation committed to assisting families in a non-adversarial way and putting children first. You can find out more about the Resolution Code of Practice here.
As part of the services that we offer the community, I sit as Vice Chair on the Welwyn Hatfield Domestic Abuse Forum.

I have a podcast series titled, "Unravelling Relationships: 35 Years as a Divorce Lawyer".
Outside the office
I am working my way through a bucket list of destinations including Macchu Piccu and Yosemite.
I am a keen walker and have walked 2 sections of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in Spain
I also enjoy supporting local charity and community events, including Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline and MIND.
