Second Lockdown: Can I still move house?
On 31st October, the Prime
Minister announced that the country would go into a second lockdown for at
least four weeks, starting on Thursday 5th November.
On 1st November, Housing
Secretary Robert Jenrick confirmed that, unlike in the first lockdown, the
housing market would remain open for this period.
This means that, providing everyone
follows appropriate Covid safety measures:
- Renters and homeowners can move house;
- Removal firms, tradespeople and estate agents can operate;
- Property transactions can continue.
All parties should take necessary
steps to protect themselves and others. This may include attending virtual
property viewings, vacating the property whilst a viewing is taking place and
cleaning the property after each viewing.
At Crane & Staples, our offices
remain closed to the public and we are working from home, with a reduced number
of staff in the office when required.
Our Property team are working hard to
ensure our clients’ transactions continue as smoothly as possible.
Please get in touch with us if you
have any concerns about whether the second lockdown will affect your move.
